Screening and Supervision

Instructors and volunteers

It is often said that nothing is more important to us than our children. That priority is reflected in the serious approach taken to selecting leaders, instructors and volunteers with the Junior Canadian Rangers Programme. Junior Canadian Rangers (JCR) instructors are specially selected by the Adult Committee based on their experience, qualifications, reputation in the local community and a thorough criminal and background check.

Once approved by the Adult Committee, potential adult volunteers, instructors and leaders receive specific training in terms of how to interact with teenagers and what is appropriate behaviour in terms of the conduct of the Junior Canadian Ranger Programme. Their involvement with the youth is closely monitored at all times.

Supervision is another important part of the Junior Canadian Ranger Programme. An experienced Canadian Ranger supervises all JCR activities with the assistance of qualified and pre-screened members of the local community.

Safety is stressed at all times and extra precautions are taken when the Junior Canadian Rangers venture outside of the classroom into the outdoors.
