JCR celebrate achievements

The Clyde River JCR held their year-end parade on Monday February 9th, 2009. Awards were handed out for the following:

Best Male JCR - Albert Panipak
Best female JCR - Karen Iqalukjuaq
JCR Top shot 2008 - Gina Paniloo
Most improved JCR - Mark Arreak
JCR best overall - Jeffrey Palituq

Canadian Ranger Ollie Ittinuar invested into the OMM by Governor General

On 30 January 2009, Canadian Ranger Ollie Ittinuar of Rankin Inlet was awarded the Order of Military Merit for his lifetime of service to his community and Canada as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Canadian Rangers. Ranger Ittinuar was born in 1921 and has been a Canadian Ranger since 1984. He is well respected in his Patrol and community for his knowledge of life, travel and safety on the land and sea ice, as well as his contribution to the promotion of traditional education and culture. At the age of 86, Ranger Ittinuar is the oldest serving member of the Canadian Forces.

Canadian Junior Ranger, Eric Abel, from 5 Canadian Ranger Patrol Group, Hopedale, Newfoundland, participates in a drumming demonstration during 10th anniversary celebrations at Cartier Drill Hall, Wednesday. Junior Canadian Rangers from across Canada were brought to Ottawa to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Junior Canadian Rangers.
